Summary[]

At Mao's apartment, Mao and his friends enjoy dinner together. During it, Alas wanted some tofu, and before serving it to her, Emi remarked that Shiro shouldn't have added ginger to it. However, Shiro argued that Alas should eat it as a way to prevent becoming a picky eater. Chi sides with Emi, noting that the ginger could be too much for Alas to handle. Hanzo and Mao then noted their distaste for ginger, which irked Shiro. After news of a fireworks festival across Japan airs, Emi formally announces that she'll be staying at her parent's home for a while, catching everyone off guard.

Later, Mao, Emi, Alas, Chi, and Suzuno all walk together as Emi further explains why she wants to return home. She hopes to retrace Lailah's steps in Ente Isla in hopes of learning more about the Yesod Fragments and the connection between the Demons and Heaven. Although Chi wanted to see Emi off, she's told that's impossible because Emerada was going to open a portal way while she was in school. Emi mentions that she'll be back on the 12th when the joint birthday party involving Chi and Emi will be held. They all then see Emi and Alas off at the train station and return home.

Back at home, Shiro was notably happy, as Emi would be out of their hair for a while. Shiro suggests they have yakiniku, and Hanzo wants pudding, but Mao explodes, proclaiming that they fail to realize that Emi trusts them. This outburst triggers Suzuno, who barges into their apartment to complain.

On the day of Emi's departure, Chi waits by the closed gate in the old school to see if Emi made it through alright, using her Yesod ring to determine it. The ring starts to glow briefly, and then Chi gets a text from Suzuno informing her that it was successful.

Days fly by, and everyone performs their daily tasks in that time. On the night of the 11th day, Mao studies to earn a mop head license and perform delivery tasks in case an employee at work cannot do it.

On the day of Emi's scheduled return, Suzuno visits Mao and asked if Emi had returned yet, but Mao answered no. He suggested that they contact Emerada, but Suzuno couldn't reach her, and using an Idea Link is too precarious as their enemies can detect it like Olba. Hanzo suggested that Mao convert the celestial energy from Suzuno to revert back to his prime form and return to Ente Isla and investigate what was going on there. On the other hand, Mao dismisses that idea, and Suzuno noted her lack of celestial energy compared to Emi is inadequate. Still, Mao argues that he doesn't care if anything bad had happened to Emi since they're enemies and that it'd be in his favor if that were the case. Mao then ends their conversation about Emi's whereabouts, but Suzuno asks if Chi asked Mao for help finding Emi. Would he have 2nd thoughts? Put off by the question; Mao claimed that his response would be the same, but only softer. As it so happened, Chi was there and gave a tearful plea to Mao.

Mao felt immense guilt when Chi left, and Shiro noted his concern about Emi, claiming the Church, Malebranche, and Heavens considered her their enemy. The notion perplexes Mao, but as Shiro explained, it was unwise of Mao to inform Farfarello that Emi was a new Demon general. However, Mao claimed he did it to protect Chi and to prevent more Demons from returning to Earth. As Shiro and Mao's conversation continues, Hanzo cuts in, giving his own thoughts and opinion on the situation, claiming Emi is too proud to ask for help. Ultimately, Mao was thankful to hear both sides' opinions on Emi's situation.

More days go by, and Mao takes a train to the place where he'll get his mophead permit. During his train ride, a girl named Tsubasa, who was accompanied by her father, takes an interest in Mao. The two would part ways, but meet again at the license registry, where Tsubasa details it's her father's 10th time trying to get a license because he can't read kanji well. Tsubasa introduces herself and her father, and Mao sheepishly does the same. Hearing Mao's name intrigues Tsubasa, and she asks him if he's the "Devil King" However, Mao denies the fact and runs away after Tsubasa sniffs his hand. Hiroshi then claims that it was wrong of Tsubasa to do such a thing so brazenly, but she claimed that Mao smelled familiar.

Meanwhile, Rika visits Mao's apartment, and her visit concerned about Emi's disappearance. As Rika explained her worry about Emi, she mentioned that she spoke with Emi a week ago, despite having no contact with anyone else for at least three weeks. This leads them to believe that someone impersonated her.

It starts to rain heavily at that moment, and Suzuno gets an emergency alert from Chi via Idea Link. Hence, Suzuno gives Hanzo an Holy Vitamin β, and the two drink it to restore their celestial energies and then fly toward Chi's school, which leaves Rika astounded by what she had witnessed.
